Madonna University makes it a Stockbridge twofer

Recently, 2017 SHS graduate Alexis Craft signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. She will be joining her former teammate and friend Mackenzie Williams, class of 2018.

“Since graduating last year, I have been working to earn money for school,” Craft stated. “I’m so excited to receive this basketball scholarship. My dream of attending college and pursuing a degree in physical education is becoming a reality. Plus, I’m thrilled to be able to play for Coach Steinbarger.”

Madonna’s head women’s basketball coach, Rachel Steinbarger, spoke enthusiastically about adding Craft to her roster of signees for the 2018-2019 season. “Alex is going to be a great asset to Madonna University not only academically but also athletically,” she said. “She is a student who will continue to grow while being here, but she is also going to touch many lives with her generosity, kindness and overall selfless acts. I can’t wait to truly get to know her on a deeper level and see the woman she is going to grow to become in the next four years. Overjoyed for Alex and her family.”

When asked how Williams felt about Craft’s signing with Madonna, Craft’s good friend, former teammate and now Madonna teammate laughed and said, “The dynamic duo is back.”
