While the Sasquatch statue still stands guard over the Munith Café, big changes are afoot. After a brief shutdown, the restaurant reopened Jan. 1 under new management. Thanks to partners Jesse Fowler and Patrick Crabtree, breakfast is now served daily from 8:00 a.m. until noon with more hours to come in the future.

While the Sasquatch statue still stands guard over the Munith Café, big changes are afoot.

According to Fowler and Crabtree, who are both members of the local community, the two embarked on the partnership venture to bring meals made from scratch with good portions to their patrons.

Crabtree, a regular customer of the former restaurant, said he would “stop in daily to have breakfast.” On hearing that the restaurant was up for sale, he approached Fowler and the two started planning their strategy.

Fowler, already well established in Munith as co-owner of Big Chuck’s Pizza, saw an opportunity to provide additional meal options to the community. “I love the small town feel and the local support.” He smiled.

Now the Munith Cafe is back in operation, and the new owners invite one and all to stop in and sample their wares. “Especially the sausage gravy,” Crabtree said. “It’s homemade from locally sourced ingredients.” This reporter sampled the veggie omelet and can attest to its delicious taste.

Hours of operation are limited as yet, while the partners work through the licensing process and determine the best times to be open for their customers. But rest assured, the two partners are cooking up new ideas for the near future.
