New Year’s hopes and dreams … 2022
compiled by Paul Crandall
To celebrate the New Year, the Stockbridge Community News reached out to area residents to ask about any hopes, dreams or resolutions they may hold for 2022. Following are their contributions (some have been edited for brevity).
“My goal for the next year is to take more vacations away from the regular routine of life. Experience something new or review something fun from the past. Anything to leave behind the tedium of ‘avoiding the COVID’s’! A Happy New Year to All.” –Dave Avery, Stockbridge
“My hopes for our community are to find even more ways to show our care for each other, that we practice being gentle with each other, especially those we don’t know yet. And to come together for live music! Personally, I hope to continue sharing horse-related events with more people, and to simply remain healthy.” –Michael Fouts, Stockbridge
“As this incredibly eventful, train wreck of a year comes to the end of its tracks, I hope COVID-19 can fall to the back of everyone’s worries and hurt fewer families. I hope next year we all can travel more, see more loved ones and make more happy memories. I would also like to see these people through glasses that aren’t fogging up because of a mask.” –Lucas Haines, Gregory
“I hope to take some short trips, see my granddaughters more, learn my “new job” (which includes learning Facebook) better, do more puzzles, and exercise. (I feel like I have to add “exercise” or else it’s not a true New Year’s Resolution!)” –Gwen Reid, Gregory
“For some reason it is more difficult this year to see a “new” hope, dreams or a resolution. I am looking forward to our country becoming healthy in many ways: COVID reduction-eradication, politicians that represent their constituents and the overall world/USA peace and calming. Why, you may ask? Personally, so that I can regain some travel and meeting freedoms! I miss large group functions (concerts/plays) and traveling continentally and abroad! I would say my goal for 2022 is to immerse myself in the public venue music scene…but I really can’t as I am uncertain if it will be safe. So, for 2022, I will stick close to home and continue to build my business and personally invest in our local community.” –Jackie Scheller, Stockbridge
“Hopes that more people will take the pandemic seriously, mask and get vaccinated; dreams that this will lead to life as we remember it with hugs, kisses, long visits, and trips to new places; resolution that we will do everything we can to make this a reality for everyone.” –Andrea Stickney, Stockbridge
“I am hoping for a much more normal year. I would love to see the kids in our great communities have a normal school life.” –Mike Stoffer, Gregory
“In 2022, my hope and/or resolution is to live life intentionally. When doing daily activities, planning adventures, spending time with my loved ones, working with my students—I want to intentionally take each moment in and be the best version of myself that I can be.” –Nicole Whitt, Stockbridge
