Obituary: Mildred Jane Owen (Millie)

Mildred Jane Owen (Millie), 94, a long-time resident of Stockbridge, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Millie was born on April 10, 1930, in Fitchburg, Michigan to James M. Campbell Sr. and Mabel (Coffman) Campbell. Her mom died when she was young and her dad later married Louise (Cady) Campbell.

Millie married Vincent Jack Owen on November 15, 1946, in Stockbridge. She was a housewife for many years until her husband, Jack, bought the Dexter Bakery, and she then went to work there. Millie loves square dancing, working in her flower beds, playing euchre, and playing Bunco with her Bunco Girls.

She is survived by her sons Rick (Jill) Owen, Dennis (Mary) Owen, David Owen, Rodney Owen (Brenda Allard), and daughter Melanie Owen (Chris Meier), 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews. Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Owen on August 7, 2014, three bothers Leroy, James Jr., and Tom Campbell, three sisters Minnie Lathrop, Thelma Powell, and Edna Streets, her son Kevin Owen and wife Kelli Owen, grandchild Mathew Owen, and daughter-in-law June Owen.

A celebration of Life Service will be held at the Stockbridge American Legion Hall on Saturday, November 16 with Pastor Bathan Kingsley of the Vantown Community Church Officiating.
