Panthers Down Lakewood to Clinch Share of GLAC Title
The last time the Stockbridge boys basketball team won a league title, most of this years varsity squad was not born yet. That is no more as the Panthers beat Lakewood 53-42 to clinch a share of the GLAC title, the first title for Stockbridge since 2002.
They finished tied with Perry with 10-2 conference marks. Leslie could make it a three-way tie with a win against Lakewood this week.
Brandon Nelson scored five first quarter points as the teams were tied at 11 after one.
The Panthers struggled in the second as Lakewood outscored them 10-8 to take a 21-19 lead at the half.
Noah Robidou scored seven and Tylin Ayers six in the third to spark a 16-8 run for the Panthers to give them a 35-29 lead after three.
The Panthers sealed the win at the line by going 10 of 13 from the charity stripe in the fourth. Chris Hall hit five of seven from the line and scored nine points in the fourth as the Panthers held off the Vikings.
Hall finished with a team high 17 points, while Robidou added 10. Nelson chipped in with nine, Jeremy Pilch and Ayers six each, and John Morris five.
The Panthers improved to 13-5 overall on the season. They host Pinckney in the final regular season home game Friday night at 7:00.
