Panthers Down Maple Valley in GLAC Opener
The 2019/20 GLAC season started on the right foot for the Stockbridge boys’ basketball team as the Panthers downed Maple Valley 64-48 Friday night.
The Panthers jumped out to a 16-7 lead after one with a balanced scoring attack as six players scored in the period.
The lead stayed at nine at the break 32-23 with Chris Hall scoring eight in the second.
Ty Ayers scored seven points in the third as the Panther lead grew to 49-36.
The Panthers put the game away in the fourth by scoring 17 points and sealing the win.
Hall and Ayers finished with 18 points each to lead the Panthers. Jeremy Pilch added ten points and Noah Robidou seven. John Morris and Josh Lewis scored four each and Brandon Nelson three.
The Panther dropped a tough 59-58 decision to Eaton Rapids December 17.
Stockbridge rallied from a 17-3 first quarter deficit, but came up just short in the end.
Nelson nailed five triples to lead the Panthers with 15 points.
Hall finished with 14 and Morris 13. Pilch added seven points, Robidou five, and Ayers four.
The Panthers are off for the long Holiday Break and return to action Tuesday, January 7 at home against Marshall Academy.
