Panthers Struggle in Season Opener

The Stockbridge football team had a rough start to the season Friday night when the Panthers fell to rival Leslie 41-7 in the season opener.

The Panthers could not overcome a fast start by the Blackhawks that saw Leslie jump out to a 21-0 lead after one quarter.

Leslie was benefitted by a Panthers turnover which game them the ball at the one-yard line for their second score of the night.

The teams were scoreless in the second and the Panthers tried to get back in it in the third when Zac Rogozinksi ran one in from two yards out for a touchdown. A Josiah Muzzin extra point cut the lead to 21-7.

Leslie answered with two more scores in the third and finished off the scoring with a touchdown in the fourth for a 41-7 final.

Rogozinski finished 10-17 passing for 113 yards and 24 yards rushing and a score.

Brandon Hamlett rushed for 34 yards and Domenic Ciminelli 13.

Brock Rochow caught six passes for 86 yards, Noah Sandecki one for 16, and Hamlett two for 11.

The Panthers return to action Friday night when they face travel to Union City.
