Police Blotter from Unadilla Township Police Chief David S. Russell
Unadilla Township Police responded to the following calls for service this week:
2-25-2018 1:11 pm: An officer was dispatched to a residence on Spears Rd to assist the Unadilla Township Fire Department with a fire alarm. It was determined to be a false alarm.
2-25-2018 2:18 pm: An officer was dispatched to the area of Spears Rd and Arnold Rd for kids riding four wheelers in the roadway. The officer made contact with the juveniles and gave them a verbal warning.
2-25-2018 5:35 pm: An officer was dispatched to a residence on Spears Rd to check on the welfare of an individual with a medical condition that had not been heard from by a relative in quite some time. The individual was fine and was connected with family.
2-25-2018 6:09 pm: An officer was dispatched to a residence on Dutcher Rd regarding a horse that was attacked by a dog. The dog owner was identified as a neighbor and the dog was under control when the officer arrived. The horse was on its owner’s property at the time of the attack. The horse was injured and is being treated by a veterinarian. The incident was turned over to Livingston County Animal Control for further handling.
2-27-2018 11:31 am: A report was received from a concerned citizen about an individual that seemed to be sitting at a nearby residence and watching individuals as they used the Unadilla Park the previous day. The individual was not doing anything wrong but it made the citizen feel uneasy.
2-27-2018 5:18 pm: An officer was dispatched to the area of Kathryn Ct. to investigate a report of a small child running out of house naked. The child had run around for a short period of time and went back inside the residence. The mother stated that the child sometimes sneaks out of the house. The officer discussed ways to prevent the situation from reoccurring. The officer found that the child appeared to being cared for and there were no other concerns for the child’s welfare found.
2-28-2018 5:37 pm: A report was received from a woman in the area of M106 and Dutton Rd who had a flat tire because her boyfriend had slashed her tire after an argument. He reportedly had then left the residence with the children and she was concerned about them. It was determined that there was no physical assault involved and both parties had damaged property. The children were accounted for and were safe and unharmed. The case is being sent to the Prosecutor’s Office.
2-28-2018 5:51 pm: A man requested contact from an officer about possibly being evicted from his residence. The officer advised the man that police do not evict people from a residence without an order from the court and that he should seek legal counsel regarding his rights.
3-1-2018 9:28 am: A report was received of harassing telephone calls. It is believed to be telemarketers that were calling 2 to 3 times a week. The calls were not abusive, it is the frequency that bothered the resident.
3-1-2018 11:22 am: An officer was dispatched to assist medical personnel at a residence on Mickey Ln. for a person that had sustained an injury from a fall.
3-1-2018 4:17 pm: An officers was dispatched to a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Worden Rd and Doyle Rd, The driver of the red Nissan Armada had been traveling too fast for the snowy road conditions and slid off the road striking a tree. The driver was not injured. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
3-2-2018 6:52 am: An officer was dispatched to a residence on Stockbridge St. to assist a mother who had locked herself out of the house with a small child inside. The officer was able to help the woman get back into the residence and the child was fine.
3-2-2018 10:56 am: An officer investigated a report of threats that were made against an employee of Unemployment Insurance Agency. The complaint was that a subject threatened to go on a shooting spree if his claim was not handled the way he wanted it. The subject who was accused of making the threat stated that the statement was generic about why people go on shooting sprees, was intended to express frustration, and not intended as a threat. Officers found the individual was not in possession of firearms and did not appear to have ready access to any. The case is being forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office.
3-2-2018 12:34 pm: An officer assisted the Fire Department at the scene of a tree that was down blocking the roadway on Bowdish Rd east of Worden Rd.
3-2-2018 8:22 pm: An officer was requested to assist the Stockbridge Police Department in checking on the welfare of a subject that may be suicidal. It was determined that the subject was at another residence in another jurisdiction and the Stockbridge Police Department was notified of this.
3-3-2018 2:29 pm: An officer was dispatched to a residence on Doyle Rd to assist medical personnel with a subject requesting an ambulance for a medical condition.
