SCN Publishing and Press Release Policy

News Release Policy

As a general guideline, the Stockbridge Community News does accept news releases (aka: press releases) to be posted online and published in our monthly print edition. As space is limited, and not all news releases are relevant to our readers, SCN reserves the right to edit, withhold, and/or deny publication of news releases.

To submit a news release to SCN, please email your release to [email protected]. If content is time sensitive, please indicate this in the Subject line.

SCN will review the release for relevance and appropriateness; if accepted for publication, SCN will make any necessary edits and publish the final release. The Stockbridge Community News does not guarantee a release will be published; in some cases, a release may be published to our website and Facebook pages, but not in the monthly printed issue due to space constraints.

To increase the likelihood of your information being published online and/or in the monthly printed issue, SCN highly recommends you consider submitting it as a paid advertisement or announcement. To place an ad or announcement with us, please email SCN at [email protected] and we will get in touch with you. Our advertisements and announcements pricing does include free graphic design assistance if you are interested.

As a general rule of thumb, SCN does not publish political content—especially partisan political content— including new releases. The Stockbridge Community News is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, and does not endorse nor support any candidate or political party. Please see our SCN Publishing Policy below for more information.

Political Policies:

Given SCN’s mission to help build a stronger, healthier community through consistent, quality communications, it is our policy to remain neutral on political campaign activity. While we seek to encourage residents to vote, we shall neither support nor oppose any political party or candidate for public office. While we appreciate all letters to the editor, we must respectfully decline to publish submissions of a political nature. However, SCN will accept paid political advertisements, subject to our review and approval. These advertisements shall be titled “Paid Political Advertisement.” All are subject to SCN’s review and approval. When questionable as to whether an advertisement is political, the SCN board will decide by majority vote
