Soccer Off to Slow Start
The Stockbridge soccer team has had a slow start to the 2020 battling injuries over the first two weeks of the season starting the season with an 0-5 record.
The Panthers have been playing shorthanded with just one player on the bench due to injuries.
With the late start of the season due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Panthers opened with a pair of state-ranked opponents.
They fell to D4 ranked Manchester 8-0 September 10 and perennial D4 power Lansing Christian 6-0 September 14.
Stockbridge then fell to Lakewood 5-0 in a GLAC matchup September 16, before hosting the Panthers Invitational Saturday, September 19.
The Panthers opened against Onsted and played their best game of the season, before falling to the Wildcats 3-2 in double overtime.
Lucas Suojanen scored both goals for the Panthers in the hard fought loss.
They then fell to Michigan Center 7-0 in the consolation match.
Stockbridge will travel to Maple Valley Monday and host Perry Wednesday on Senior Night.
