Stockbridge FFA looks back at first year

On May 15, the Stockbridge FFA Chapter held its first chapter awards ceremony in 35 years.

The ceremony was an official meeting with a guest speaker, Kary Gee. The chapter also recognized its sponsors and officiated new officer inductions.

The new officers are Hannah Marshall, president; Hayden Keiser, vice president; Clarissa Hill, secretary; Hunter Pidd, treasurer; Elizabeth Vliet, reporter; Nathan Pidd, sentinel; Chase Sommer, liaisan, and Marcus Hill, trustee.

As the chapter looked back on the past year of FFA, members sent out a big thank you to the community and sponsors for their tremendous support.

In 1989, the Stockbridge FFA Chapter went dormant and eventually it was discontinued. In 2022, the chapter was revived because of the profound interest in agriculture by the students and community.

Why join FFA? Members of the chapter had a variety of reasons.

“I wanted to be in it because my father and grandfather were in it, and I wanted to be part of something they were a part of,” incoming Vice President Hayden Keiser said.

Chase Sommer said: “I love agriculture, it has always been my life, and I want to continue the farming experience.”

Incoming chapter President Hannah Marshall replied: “I already had experience in agriculture with the animal side of it, but I wanted to increase my knowledge with other aspects like horticulture and business.”

In the coming years, members are looking forward to seeing their chapter grow and become more active in the community.
