STOCKBRIDGE HS VIDEO PROJECT WINS MIPA SPECIAL PROJECTS CONTEST

A special video project of Stockbridge High School’s student media outlet won first-place honors in the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association’s Special Projects contest.

The competition is one of several MIPA spring contest categories. It honors student work that goes beyond the regular work of that student media outlet. Results of SHS students in the 2018 Special Projects category were:

First Place:

Announced last night, sophomore Maria Risner took first place for her video “Dear Students” in the MIPA state special projects competition.

Senior Zabrina Yannella took 3rd for her smart phone app to detect fake news.
 
Stockbridge High School journalism teacher Elizabeth Cyr also acknowledged Jason Rickli who mentored Yanella in making her app.

According to Cyr, both students used newer technology in the journalism lab provided by the recent bond acquisitions.
Cyr said, “We are thankful and proud of these young innovators.”
