Stockbridge Township and Village offer Clean Up Day for benefit of residents and school sports

Stockbridge Township and the Village of Stockbridge teamed up to offer local residents Clean Up Day at the Jr/Sr High School on September 22.
“It was a great success,” Stockbridge Township Clerk Becky Muraf said. “The joint effort between the township and village disposed of an impressive amount of waste: 375 gallons of oil, a 70-yard bin of scrap metal filled to the brim, 75 gallons of paint, 22 gallons of transmission fluid and 450 tires, filling two garbage trucks.”
In addition to helping residents rid themselves of hard-to-dispose-of waste, the township and village donated all proceeds to the athletic department in support of various sports, including football and soccer.
“The football program was pleased to participate in the Township clean-up day by overseeing scrap metal collection,” coach Jeremy Killinger said. “Although final settlement hasn’t been made, I would expect $800 to $1,000 to be raised for athletic programs at SCS.”
The football players disposed of a large quantity of tires on behalf of the school throughout Clean Up Day.
“This event allowed us to continue to live out the Football Program’s theme of “Success Through Teamwork,” and we look forward to next year’s event,” Killinger said.
Village and Township coordinators expressed appreciation to the many volunteers who came out and made the event possible.
