Emily Satkowiak Heritage Elementary 4th grader personifies the saying, “You Before Me.”

Satkowiak is enthusiastic about learning and is a positive role model, according to her teacher Katherine Anderson.

“I recently noticed Emily helping another student with a difficult math problem by teaching and guiding them through each step,” Anderson said. She did this completely on her own because she noticed a classmate in need.”

“Her kindness, hard work, and positive attitude shine through each day,” Anderson continued.

Emily Satkowiak, daughter of Jason and Colleen Satkowiak, has an older brother Dalton, older sister Melanie, and younger sister Alexa. She has attended Stockbridge Community Schools since Kindergarten.

She said her teachers and parents are a big influence on her life. Not only have teachers helped her grow, she said, they are caring and helpful to students.

Recently, Satkowiak earned a medal representing her class in the Heritage Spelling Bee. In third grade, she was the recipient of the Art Award.

Aside from academics, Satkowiak is also involved in basketball, softball and dancing. Hobbies include completing puzzles and reading “A Series of Unfortunate Events.”

“In the classroom, Satkowiak is an outstanding student who consistently goes above and beyond in all that she does,” Anderson said.

She loves math and hopes to attend Harvard to become a scientist.
