Summer signaled a changing of the guard at local Legion Post
by Mary Jo David
The Mackinder-Glenn American Legion Post 510 in Stockbridge underwent a changing of the guard in June 2021. Volunteers from the Stockbridge Community News were introduced to the new board members at the September 13, 2021 Legion meeting. (See photo for a list of up-to-date board members and their titles.)
During the business meeting that evening, the Board discussed a list of events the Legion is planning for and the goal of getting the Post to a pre-COVID level for their sponsored activities.
The Michigan shut-down during the pandemic, along with subsequent social restrictions when the state reopened, forced organizations like the Legion to curtail their sponsored activities, which had a major impact on their fundraising abilities.
The Post is happy to begin reintroducing activities for 2021 and 2022. For example, Legion-sponsored Bingo is back on the calendar for Wednesdays each week (except holidays). Area residents: Remember to check out the signboard in front of the Legion, located at 830 S Clinton St., Stockbridge, to learn about the latest Post 510-sponsored activities and events.
