The Morrisons: Country girl wins city boy over to life on the farm.

Richard and Margaret Morrison met when he was taking graduate classes and she was a senior at Eastern Michigan University. Richard grew up in Detroit and studied in both Toronto and Windsor before landing at EMU. Margaret grew up in a dairy-farming family in Stockbridge before heading to college. Together, they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last summer, on August 25, 2019. They were married at Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church in Leslie, MI, with the Reverend Charles Christopher of the Congregation of St. Basil presiding.

Richard and Margaret have three children: Richard (wife: Connie), Kathleen, and Matthew. They also have four grandchildren they are very proud of. Prior to retirement, Margaret taught special education in Stockbridge, Livonia, and Mason. Richard taught high school in Redford Township and is a long-time Realtor®. Michiganders through and through, Richard says some of their favorite vacation spots are around St. Clair and Port Huron. But when it comes down to it, the Morrisons mainly enjoy spending time together on their small 70+ acre farm just outside of Stockbridge.

This special anniversary story will be included in our Hearts and FlowersLove is in the Air feature celebrating couples who have been married 50 years or more. Watch for this feature in the February print edition of the Stockbridge Community News.
