Tolson, Satkowiak Qualify for Cross Country State Finals

The Stockbridge cross country teams will be represented by two runners at the Division 3 State Finals at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn Saturday, November 2.

Sophomore Rylee Tolson will represent the girls team after winning the D3 Regional title at Uncle John Cider Mill in St. Johns Friday, October 25. She won the race with a time of 18:46.1.

She is one of the favorites for a shot at winning the D3 individual state title Saturday. Tolson has the second fastest time of the season in D3 behind sophomore Allison Chmielewski of Roscommon. Sophomore Adrianna Enns of Hart ran the fastest Regional qualifying time in D3 and will be right there in the end as well.

Tolson helped the girls team finish 4th at the Regional, just missing out on the top three which move on to the state finals.

The Panthers finished with 131 points in the meet won by Pewamo-Westphalia with 50.

Brianna Hill ran a PR of 20:24.5 to finish 16th, just missing qualifying for the finals by one spot as the top 15 move on to MIS.

Katelyn Walker was 25th in 21:10.5, Rachel Owen 43rd in 22:26.5, Isabelle Bliss 52nd in 23:02.8, Grace Niec 56th in 23:15.4, and Anna Schlaff 64th in 23:44.1.

Satkowiak qualified for the boys race with a 15th place finish in 17:18.6, just seven tenths of a second off of a PR. He beat out a Leslie runner that had beaten him at the GLAC Finals last week to earn the final spot.

The boys team finished in 8th place out of 14 teams with 177 points. St. Louis won the race with 80.

Freshman Micah Bolton finished 31st in 17:54.4, followed by Collin Cook 34th in 18:00.3. Andy Schlaff was 48th in 18:30, Ben Chapman 49th in 18:31.1, Ryan Owen 54th in 18:46.3, and Brock Jones 61st in 18:58.5.

The Panthers will return their who squad of the seven top runners next season and will be a force to by dealt with.

Tolson will run in the girls Division 3 race at 10:10 AM Saturday morning and Satkowiak will run in the boys race at 11:30 AM.
