Volleyball Rolling into Post-Season

With districts a little more than a week away, the Stockbridge volleyball team seems to be clicking at the right time.

The Panthers went 3-1 last week, including splitting a pair of matches at the GLAC tournament Saturday.

Stockbridge opened the GLAC tournament with a 25-16, 25-18 sweep of Perry.

Grace Burg led the team with four kills and four aces on the day. Maggie Jones and Megan Mackinder each had two kills, while Alaina Kellenberger had two.

 

Mackinder added four aces and Maddie Dalton two. Taylor led the team with five digs, while Gracee Robidou had three. Dalton picked up two digs and dished out 13 assists.

The Panthers then fell to Olivet in three sets 23-25, 26-24, 8-15.

Mackinder had a big game with seven kills and four aces. Kellenberger added six kills and three aces, while Burg and Lockhart each had three kills. Robidou led the team in digs with seven and added two aces. Burg, Dalton, and Mackinder had five digs each, with Jones collecting four and Lockhart two. Dalton dished out 17 assists in the match.

The Panthers opened the week by sweeping Maple Valley 3-0 to finish 3-3 in the GLAC regular season. They took down the Lions 25-6, 25-12, 25-14.

Kellenberger had a big night with nine kills, five aces, and three blocks to lead the Panthers.

Mackinder added six kills, four aces, and two digs, while Jones fired seven aces and five kills. Burg chipped in five digs, three aces, and three kills, while Lockhart had seven digs, three kills, and two aces. Dalton also had a big game with 21 assists, seven digs, two aces, and one block.

Stockbridge then swept Jackson 25-13, 25-14, 25-11.

Burg and Jones fired eight kills each, while Burg had four aces and Jones three.

Mackinder led the team with 11 kills, four digs, and three aces. Kellenberger chipped in with six kills and Lockhart five. Robidou led the team with 10 digs, while Burg, Lockhart, and Dalton each had nine. Dalton dished out 32 assists on the night.

The Panthers improved to 13-18-7 overall on the season. They host the Division 3 district tournament next week. Stockbridge will open play Tuesday, November 1 against Ovid-Elsie at 7:00 PM.
