Volleyball Takes Down Olivet in Four
Senior Night turned out to be a good night for the Stockbridge volleyball team and four seniors that were playing their last home game as the Panthers beat Olivet 3-1.
Seniors Kaylie Shepard, Breanna Salyer, Sylvia Whitt, and Tyler Showerman helped lead the Panthers to a 25-15, 25-23, 19-25, 25-20 win over the Eagles.
The Panthers opened quickly taking the first set 25-15, but Olivet made it tough in the second as Stockbridge pulled out a 25-23 win for a 2-0 lead.
Olivet made a game of it by taking the third set 19-25 forcing a fourth set.
Stockbridge took control of the fourth set early and led 23-15, but the Eagles tried to rally to cut the lead to 23-20, but the Panthers closed it out with the final two points to clinch the match.
Grace Hall had 13 digs and 11 kills to lead the Panthers.
Whitt had 13 points and six kills, while Shepard had 14 assists and 10 service points. Madison Mazuca recorded 11 assists and 10 points, while Salyer had nine digs.
The Panthers improved to 3-3 in the GLAC and 12-15-4 overall. They will play in the GLAC tournament Saturday at Lansing Christian.
