Waterloo Township Board Unapproved Meeting Minutes

December 01, 2020 7:00 P.M. (Changed from Nov. 24)

Call to Order: 7:00 p.m.

Pledge

Present:  Lance, Kitley, McAlister, Walz, Morency and 6 residents.

Public Comment: None

Consent Agenda: Kitley motioned with support from Walz to accept the consent agenda as presented.  Aye/all; no/none.  Motion carried.  Kitley reported that there was no SAESA meeting in November.

Correspondence: Letter was read by Supervisor from Ruth Burgess regarding the possibility of a marijuana growth in the Township.

Old Business:  Wendy stated that there was no Parks and Recreation meeting in November.

New Business:  Lisa Morency informed the Board that there was no Planning Commission in November and that they would start where they left off in October.

There was discussion on the newly submitted contract with Jackson County Sheriff’s office.  Lance motioned with support from Morency to approve the contract presented by Jackson County Sheriff’s office contingent upon successful negotiations on 5 points of communication from our legal counsel Matt Kuschel on December 1, 2020 at a cost of $7,122 a month ($85,464 a year) from January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021.  Roll call vote:  Yes/McAlister, Walz, Kitley, Lance, Morency.  No/none.  Motion carried.

Snow plowing bid was discussed.  Walz motioned with support from McAlister to accept the snow plowing bid from Green Shades Lawn Service in an amount as much the same as last year, approximately $100 per plow.  Roll call vote:  Yes/Walz, Kitley, Lance, Morency, McAlister.  No/none.  Motion carried.

Lance motioned with support from Walz to accept the gift of the Lion’s Club Park in Munith, pending insurance information from Walton Agency and information from our legal counsel.  The group will be disbanding the Lion’s Club in Munith in the near future.  Yes/all; no/none.  Motion carried.

Approval of the February 1, 2021 through January 2022 Walton Agency Insurance policy was tabled until we have additional insurance information on the Sheriff Contract and the Munith Lion’s Park.

Lance motioned with support from Morency to approve the land division of Keith Haglund, Parent Parcel #000-05-33-401-001-06 resulting in New Parent Parcel #000-05-33-401-001-09 and new Split Parcel # 000-05-33-401-001-10 effective upon receipt of taxes paid document on current parcel from the County.

Other Business That Comes Before The Board: None

Public Comment:  Mallory Glenn spoke of letter read about the marijuana growth facility.  It was suggested that the public be informed what the facility will be doing and giving more public information, perhaps holding a Townhall meeting.  She is concerned as to whether the Township Board is going to move forward with it.   A formal discussion will take place at a later time.  Nate Glenn thanked the Clerk’s department for a successful election and all of the work they did.  He knew it was a stressful time and the work was appreciated.  Bill Richardson asked about scheduling a new Aggregate Industries permit meeting.  He will start trying to get the meeting scheduled.  Most likely it will be early January.

The next Planning Commission meeting will be on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.   The next regular Board meeting will be on Tuesday, December 22 at 7:00 p.m.    Minutes will be published in the Stockbridge Community News at the end of each month, on our website at www.waterlootwpmi.com and on our Facebook page at: waterlootownshipmichigan.
