Welcome to 2019

Happy New Year
Welcome to the new year and, hopefully, the opportunity to do more for ourselves, others and our community, though perhaps not in that order.
Elsewhere on this website, readers will find this year’s “Community Resource Guide” describing organizations within the Stockbridge Community School District. These organizations were designed and established to assist the varied needs and desires of local residents.
Take a look at the wide scope of opportunities portrayed in the guide. Find an organization to assist you or to help you become involved in assisting others.
Most of the listed organizations depend largely or entirely on volunteers and can only exist with the help of those dedicated to their purpose. Special thanks to Amy Smoke and Jo Mayer for their assistance in gathering this information.
As an example, readers will find the Stockbridge Community News listed. We need volunteers to suggest story ideas, write or edit articles, take photographs of events, serve on the board or committees, and much more. At this writing, we especially need volunteers (Parents, perhaps?) to write about and take photographs of school sports events. Just let us know if you would like to help and in what area.
Each of the other 30-plus groups in the guide also have needs and missions. Many, if not all, would welcome your time, thought, talent or dollar donations.
As we launch the new year, readers will find 2018’s Top Stories listed by month. The New Year’s edition features resolutions, ways to revitalize and recreate ourselves, and hopefully, opportunities for each of us to make our small segment on this earth a better place for all who share it.
We at the Community News thank you for your support throughout 2018. We look forward to partnering with you and the community to meet the challenges of a prosperous, healthy and happy 2019.
Sincerely,
The volunteers of Stockbridge Community News
