Young Wrestling Team Trying to Move Forward

The Stockbridge wrestling team continues to have its struggles as most young teams do, but the Panthers continue to look forward to the future and keep their heads up as the season wears on.

The Panthers dropped their last five dual matches and Mother Nature has not helped with the cancellation of a tournament in Dansville.

They fell to Olivet 65-10 January 8.

Kael Bunce continued his strong wrestling by winning 15-5 and the highlight of the night came when Josh Cool picked up his first varsity win with a pin for the Panthers.

Stockbridge dropped a pair of GLAC matches at Perry last week. They fell to Leslie 56-15 and a heartbreaking 36-33 loss to Perry.

The Panthers led Perry 33-30 going into the final match of the night, but the Ramblers got a pin to pull out the victory.

Bunce picked up a pair of wins, while Damien Compton and Kevin Killinger also picked up wins.

Stockbridge then dropped a pair of non-league matches at Whitmore Lake January 22.

They fell to D1 powerhouse Hartland 66-6 and to the host Trojans 36-24.

Matthew Killinger and Cool earned wins for the Panthers, while Kalysta Connolly won an exhibition match.

The Panthers will take part in the Quincy Invitational Saturday.
