Folks turn out for 4th annual ‘Blessing of the Plow’
The American Legion Hall in Stockbridge was busy Saturday, May 11. The Sons of the American Legion (SoAL) were hosting their 4th annual “Blessing of the Plow” dinner and festivities.
“We have a great crew of cooks and volunteers, “ offered SoAL commanders Marty Bliss and Al DeCroix. The enticing aroma of barbecue filling the air left no doubt about that.
“We have pulled pork, chicken and brisket, all grilled to perfection, and the band ‘Southern Drive’ from Fowlerville will be keeping things lively!” They added.
A light rain on a cool day didn’t help the attendance, but over 200 guests enjoyed a fine night of dining and music.
American Legion Mackinder-Glenn Post 510 commander Jerry Kunzelman was pleased with the turn-out. “The post has three supporting non-profits that contribute to our organization: Sons of American Legion, Riders of the American Legion and of course, our Auxiliary. Between them they have something happening every week -plus 10 events like tonight’s. What a great help they are.” He observed.
Members of the American Legion Post in Stockbridge and its support organizations have something cooking every Thursday. Sliders, Tacos, Wings and Coney Dogs are available on successive weeks every month.
