FROM CADL STOCKBRIDGE
by Head Librarian Sherri McConnell
The Stockbridge Branch is bringing you four exciting ways to experience books in February. Blind Date with a Book is returning this year, and you could win a prize for reading! Between Feb. 1 –15 you’ll find a display of gift-wrapped books at the library with just a hint of what’s inside. Choose one, unwrap it, and check it out. You may find a new favorite author, and you may just find a prize – including tickets to “My Fair Lady” or “Wicked” at Wharton Center in East Lansing! Find more details at cadl.org.
On Feb. 4, 6:30 p.m., we’re hosting Lauren Ezzo, a Haslett native and an Audie Award nominee. She has recorded over 150 books and has plenty of stories to tell about being the voice behind a book. Want to listen to her before meeting her in person? Search for “Lauren Ezzo” at cadl.org/catalog.
On Feb. 21, 6 p.m., meet Joe Grimm, author of The Faygo Book. Grimm traces the efforts of an immigrant family to make the soda that every Michigander loves. There will be samples!
Lastly, the monthly book discussion group meets the last Friday of the month, and this month the group will be talking about “Educated” by Tara Westover on Feb. 28 at 12 p.m. Are you looking for book suggestions even when you can’t visit the branch? See what CADL staff are recommending at cadl.org/staff-picks. You will also find staff picks for music, movies and audiobooks too.
