Local traffic jam at Pleasant Lake — golf carts on parade

How do you celebrate the 80th birthday of a dedicated golf course owner?

That’s easy. All you need is a parade of golf carts coming across the fairway.

Stanley David Kasprzycki, better known as Inch, is the owner of the Hankerd Hills golf course at Pleasant Lake. Inch purchased the course from Ed Rolllins in 1978, and the past 43 years brought about many changes and improvements at the club.
So when Inch turned 80 years young, his friends and family decided to celebrate July 25 with a special tribute of a golf cart parade and party.

“I was surprised by the number of golf carts that came out for the parade,” said a smiling Nancy Osterberg. “Some were decorated.”

Osterberg said everyone met by the cul-de-sac on Old Silo Road before the parade.

“We all came down the hill on No. 1 fairway waving our white hankies,” she said. “There were guests of all ages on the clubhouse patio waving their white hankies back at us, while the polka band loudly played ‘The Lover, Oh Lover Polka.'”

And no, that wasn’t thunder being heard that evening. It was the stomping feet of the polka-dancing partiers.

Rumor has it, the stomping feet caused light fixtures to topple down on the golf carts housed in the basement cart garage.

But no worries, a great time was had by all, and no carts were injured during the party.
