Baseball Takes Two from Lake City

It has been an up and down start for the Stockbridge baseball team with the Panthers opening the season with a 3-6 overall record.

The Panthers host Lake City in the traditional doubleheader between the two schools and came out on top in both games.

Stockbridge built an 11-5 lead after four innings and held off a late rally to win the ball game 11-10.

Andrew Ackeberg led the offense with two hits, including a double and three rbi.

Parker Sandecki added two hits, and two runs scored, while Drew Hayes, Owen House,  Terrance Cordero, and J Saluer each had a hit and rbi. Kyle Cheeseman also had a hit and two runs scored.

Xavier Zimmerman earned the win with five strikeouts with Sandecki picking up the save by striking out two.

The Panthers took the second game 19-14.

Ackeberg powered the offense with three hits and two rbi, while Aidan Bradley added three hits and one rbi.

Hayes chipped in with two hits and one rbi, Caydin Stoffer one hit and one rbi, Cheeseman one hit and two runs scored, and Zimmerman one hit and a run scored.

Ethan Salyer, Bradley, and Sandecki combined for nine strikeouts on the mound.

The Panthers split a Big 8 doubleheader with Reading taking the opener 13-11 and falling 10-9 in the second.

Koen Griffith led the offense with three hits and two rbi, while Bradley added two hits and two rbi.

Kameron Gross, Cordero and Saluer each had a hit and two rbi, Cheeseman and Ackeberg chipped in with a hit and rbi, and Sandecki a hit and run scored. Drew Hayes earned the win on the mound with eight strikeouts.

Reading scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to win the second with a walk-off.

The big blow of the game was a home run by Bradley. He finished with two hits and three rbi.

Griffith added two hits and three rbi and Cheeseman two hits and two runs scored. Colton Romero added a hit and rbi, and Salyer a hit and run scored.

Stockbridge dropped a pair to Morrice 17-7 and 8-5.

Cheeseman had the only hit and rbi in the first game for the Panthers.

Zimmerman had the lone hit and rbi in the second game.

The Panthers fell to Quincy 13-8 and 18-0.

Drew Hayes led the hitting attack with three hit and one rbi. Bradley added two hits and one rbi and Gross two hits and one rbi. Cheeseman finished with a hit and two rbiSandecki a hit and rbi, and Ackeberg one hit.
