The rain was tough on the motorcyclists for the 21st All Clubs Day ride on Sunday, Sept. 20. Looking back through the history of the event, Linda Dancer recalled this was the third fall ride affected by rain. The difference from dry years was notable—at noon only seven motorcycles graced the Stockbridge Township Square. 

Earlier that morning, the spirit was alive and event attendees were full of stories from years past at the annual breakfast hosted at the Presbyterian Hall. Of Course, the late Suzi Greenway’s name came up, with some recalling she hosted the first All Clubs Day ride out at her house and property.  Greenway’s love of riding and meeting people was evident through these conversations. She was known for her delicious soup, which always tasted great on cool fall or spring days. Henry, previously from Detroit and now Toledo, proudly wore a black T-shirt that said, “World Class Motorcycles and People.” It was from one of Greenway’s first gatherings.

Many riders came in trucks or cars stating it was just too slick to ride. Despite the weather, riders came from Royal Oak, Ferndale, and the Detroit area. One couple, who came specifically for this event, were from South Carolina. More riders continued to trickle in throughout the day, and some folks were ambitious enough to set up their Club tents on the square. 

The rain may have dampened the All Clubs Day ride, but not the spirit of the riders who attended.
