A personal health care experience helped shape a new patient-focused infusion therapy clinic

While my military service and career in health care have deeply influenced me, it’s the recent experiences with my own family that have profoundly shaped my perspective on what it’s truly like to navigate a health system during a serious illness.
My father is a stage 3 lung cancer survivor, and my uncle is currently battling leukemia. Watching their journeys up close opened my eyes in ways I never expected. It’s one thing to be a health care professional, but it’s another thing to walk through those doors as the family member of a patient.
For years, I’ve seen patients navigate care firsthand—the shock of having to make multiple appointments, uncertainty and anxiety while they await diagnosis, and challenges of coordinating care between multiple physician offices. Receiving high-quality care can be challenging, whether you’re working in this field or not.
That especially rings true for patients seeking infusion therapy treatments. Cancer infusion centers across the United States are unfortunately experiencing high volumes of both cancer and non-cancer patients.
That’s why, when I had the opportunity to help shape a new, non-oncology infusion therapy center in Livingston County, I approached it with a deep understanding of what it means to be on the other side.
The vision for the ArrIVe Infusion Therapy Clinic in Brighton, located at 9400 Village Place Blvd., began with a simple but powerful idea: to create an environment where patients feel genuinely cared for and a part of the family. We wanted to create a safe space for people living with chronic conditions like arthritis, multiple sclerosis, ulcerative colitis, osteoporosis and more.
But it wasn’t enough to just focus on the medical care. We had to think about how to reduce unnecessary stress, improve access to care, and make people feel comfortable.
No patient should ever have to wait for care, and that belief has shaped the experience patients have at ArrIVe. Each patient’s private care room is set up before they even arrive, making the overall experience as seamless as possible. That private room is equipped with comfortable blankets and seating, complimentary beverages and snacks, and more. It is inviting, warm, and feels more like a sanctuary than a typical medical clinic.
Virtual referral options are available through our website, and patients and providers can easily submit information and get started quickly. We try to make every step of the patient experience as easy as possible, because that’s how it should be for anyone seeking health care.
At the end of the day, everything we do is with the patient in mind. Our goals include reducing wait times and making sure every patient gets the timely and safe care they deserve. But it’s not just about efficiency, it’s about building relationships. Health care is about more than just treating a condition—it’s about fostering trust, providing emotional support, and giving patients the confidence that they’re not alone.
The ArrIVe Infusion Therapy Clinic represents everything I’ve learned over the years, through my work in health care and through the experiences of the people I love. It’s our way of ensuring that patients are not just treated, but truly cared for. As we continue to grow, our team is excited to serve the community in a meaningful way and ensure everyone who walks through our doors feels like they’re a part of the family.
