A quick review of the program from Gregory’s 2022 4th of July Parade

So much work goes into planning the Gregory 4th of July parade, and this year was no different. You can read all about the planning  in this previous article featured in the Stockbridge Community News. As a result of a lot of hard work, many activities took place in Gregory on this 4th of July—a pie eating contest, a bake sale, face painting, a glider display, a magic show, and a survival flight landing are just a few.

Our photos this year focused on Gregory’s 4th of July Parade—the participants, the program, and the crowd that gathered to take it all in.  Here you’ll see some photos from a few special program recognitions that took place during the parade as well as some other hosted parade activities.

Editor’s Note: Separate SCN online stories will feature the parade participants and pictures of the crowd who came out to watch, enjoy, and celebrate America’s independence.

Gregory’s 4th of July Celebration banner was hung across Main Street in advance of the event.

The sign outside the Unadilla Township Fire Department kept the public updated about fundraising in the lead-up to the event and reminded folks to come out for the food, fun, band, and fireworks.

As emcee, Gordie Kunzelman (aka Francis Scott Key) did a great job reminding people of the importance of this day in history while, at the same time, ensuring the crowd had a good time.

The Beutler sisters rise to the occasion, once again, by kicking off the parade with a heartwarming rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.

Sergeant-at-Arms Bill Romero from the Mackinder-Glenn American Legion Post 510 awaits the arrival of the Color Guard who are marching in the parade.

Members of the Color Guard from American Legion Post 510 place a wreath on the Roll of Honor memorial in front of the Unadilla Township firehouse.

Linda Topping (front, right), the 2022 Grand Marshal of this year’s 4th of July Parade is joined by family and friends on the Grand Marshal float.

The Unadilla Township Fire Association (UTFA) kept the crowd fed with lunchtime fare like hotdogs, hamburgers, and brats.

While they wait for the parade to begin, hungry spectators line up to buy lunch offerings at the fire house.

Prior to the start of the parade, judging took place for the Bike-Decorating Contest.

Parade-goers stop by to learn how they can support local Unadilla Township Police Canine Koa.

Crowd control is in good hands for the parade.

Gordie Kunzelman reminded all that it takes a lot of support to put on the Gregory 4th of July celebration, including volunteers and donations. The organizers made it easy for spectators to donate to the cause.
