All Clubs Day 2019
by Suzi Greenway
The 13th Annual All Clubs Day motorcycle show on Sunday, Sept. 15 came about again with lots of community participation.
The famous Country Breakfast at the Presbyterian Church served lots of locals, and a big group of motorcyclists that came early for the show just for THAT breakfast.
Stockbridge Lions put out tables and chairs for the food trucks. Days before, the Village delivered picnic tables, cones and barrels to help with spectator’s comfort and safety.
As usual, Russ MacKinder got up early and set up the street closings and blocked off space that clubs had reserved. Then he cracked open dozens of cases of water donated by Varsity Ford, Ann Arbor, distributing them in barrels with ice for our visitors.
The show must go on even under the threat of rain with BMW Southeast Michigan, Plymouth setting up two tents to display new BMW bikes and lots of riders parking nearby in support. Roosevelt Lackey and Ken Sperry from Lapeer County set up and started their Bonneville Salt Flats speed record Triumph motorcycle. “Rosey” is now 82 and is definitely not slowing down!
Chelsea Area Historical Museum loaned the 1911 Flanders 4 for everyone to see the locally built favourite.
Ken and Tracey Miller came down from Elsie to set up their unique display of every 1973 Enduro off road Yamahas in order from 100cc to 360cc, with matching helmets for the colour of the machine.
Joe Gardella from Pinckney showed off his latest motorcycle artistry with his 1947 Harley with a copper gas tank and special paint job.
Other Clubs from Michigan were Metro Triumph Riders, Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club, Detroit Desmo, BMW Touring Club of Detroit, Michigan Norton Owners, AJS/Matchlss out of Allendale, MI,
Moto Guzzi, Vintage Rice Riders, Classic Wings, BSA, Royal Enfield and a Vincent Rapide with sidecar.
The Smoke Doctor with bbq and This Ish Right Here serving gourmet kabobs kept everyone fed. Chairs and tables were moved into the garage bay when a light shower persisted. Reports were that every where else had downpours and riders were turning around, making the crowd smaller than in the past. So – we had quality if not quantity.
The organizers thank Stockbridge Township for the use of the square and everyone who helps and came.
