Baseball Splits with Maple Valley

A big six-run fifth inning doomed the Stockbridge baseball team as they split a doubleheader with Maple Valley Monday,

The Panthers led 2-0 in the fifth when Maple Valley scored six times to take a 6-2 lead.

Stockbridge got one back in the fifth and scored three times in the sixth to tie it at six, but Maple Valley scored a run on an error in the seventh to take a 7-6 lead. The Panthers put two runners on in the seventh, but a strikeout ended the game.

Zach Fletcher led the offense with two hits and an RBI, while Drew Philipp had two hits and a run scored. Kegan Collins had a hit and two RBI, while Drew Robinson, Dalton Satkowiak, Collin Cook, and Jack McLennan had one hit each.

The Panthers bounced back to take the nightcap 7-2.

Stockbridge led 3-2 in the fifth when Satkowiak knocked a two-run double to push the lead to 5-2. He would score on an error to make it 6-2. and Robinson doubled home a run in the sixth to make the final 7-2.

Satkowiak had a big game with three hits and two RBI. Philipp and Robinson had two hits and an RBI each and Fletcher a double.

Cook went the distance with four strikeouts for the win on the mound.

The Panthers split a non-league doubleheader with Barry County Christian last week. They took the opener 2-1 and dropped the second 11-7.

Cook earned the win with four K’s and Collins struck out the side in the fifth to earn the save.

Fletcher had a double and RBI and Ashton Knoll a hit and run scored. Satkowiak had the other hit for the Panthers.

The second game saw BCC score six runs in the fourth and fifth innings to pull out the 11-7 win.

Robinson collected three hits to lead the Panther offense. Cook added two hits and two RBI and Fletcher two hits and one RBI. Dakoda Whitaker chipped one hit and two RBI, while McLennan had a hit and RBI and Collins one hit.

The Panthers improved to 8-5-1 on the season.
