Baseball Takes Two from Maple Valley

The Stockbridge baseball team improved to 5-0 in the GLAC after a doubleheader sweep of Maple Valley April 23.

The Panthers dominated the two games, taking the opener 8-0 and the nightcap 7-2.

After a scoreless first inning, the Panthers scored a pair of runs in the second and never looked back. A two-out two-run single by PJ Loso gave the Panthers the lead that they would never relinquish.

Alex Rose was nearly unhittable on the mound, allowing just one hit and striking out eight in the complete game win.

Loso led the offense with two hits and two RBI. Drew Davis added two hits and one RBI, while Daniel Ballagh had a double and two RBI.

Run-scoring singles by Aiden Trost and Loso gave Stockbridge a 3-0 first inning lead in the second game. a two-run double by Rose made it 5-0 in the third.

Maple Valley got two back in the fourth, but Brody Canfield drove in a run with a single in the sixth to make it a 7-2 final.

Canfield finished with two hits and an RBI, while Gage Place added two hits. Rose had a hit and two RBI, while Ballagh, Trost, and Loso each had a hit and RBI.

Trost earned the win on the mound, striking out seven and allowing one earned run.

The sweep made it three straight wins for the Panthers.

They held on to defeat Dansville 7-6 April 17.

The Panthers led 7-3 in the seventh before the Aggies rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to make it 7-6. They had the tying run on first with two outs before Trost got the final out on a pop-out to Place at third to end it.

Rose led the offense with three hits, three runs scored and an RBI. Jeremy Pilch had two hits, including a home run and an RBI, while Place and Trost each had a hit and two RBI. Rose got the win on the mound, striking out nine.

Stockbridge improved to 9-4 overall on the season. They travel to Maple Valley Thursday for the final game of the three-game set and host Dansville in the Second Annual Grant Whitaker Memorial Baseball Game Saturday at 2:00 PM
