Boys’ Cross Country Shares GLAC Title, Girls third

The Stockbridge boys’ cross country team upset Division 3 ninth-ranked Leslie to win the GLAC Finals and finish as co-champions with the Blackhawks for the 2020 fall season.

The Panthers finished with 41 points, nipping the Blackhawks with 44.

Stockbridge was powered by PR’s from three of their top five runners and that was the difference in the meet.

Micah Bolton knocked nearly 10 second off his previous best with a time of  17:13.31 to finish sixth.

Andy Schlaff was 16 second better then his personal record in 17:35.09 and was 12th, while Ben Chapman bested his PR by eight seconds in 17:45.12 and finished 15th.

Dalton Satkowiak led the Panthers with a third place finish in 16:51.44 and Collin Cook was fifth in 17:03.53.

Brock Jones was 18th in 18:19, Jonah Coffman 19th in 18:21, Brandon Howlett 21st with a PR of 18:32, Cameron Brewer 25th in 19:04, Ethan Wright 29th in 19:44, and Brady Cole 42nd in 24:22.

The girls were short-handed in the race and still came away with a third place finish with 71 points. D4 top-ranked Lansing Christian won the title with 43 points and Olivet was second with 63.

Rylee Tolson was the GLAC individual champion with a time of 18:16.

Brianna Hill was 11th in 20:55, while Julianna DeBozy was 12th with a PR of 20:57. Joy Youngblood was 34th in 24:31, Peyton Killinger 35th in 24:39, Sidney Gipe with a new PR of 24:51, and Kalysta Connolly 50th in 32:09.

The Panthers will take part in the D3 Regional at Willow Metropark Saturday for a shot at the state finals at MIS Saturday, November 7.
