The Open Air Market of Stockbridge began its 12th season on Friday, May 6, on the township square in downtown Stockbridge from 4 pm to 7 pm. Each week through October 28, we plan to set up so that we all can enjoy camaraderie.
Market Music, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., will feature bands and performers with a variety of music. Bring your own chair or use one of ours. Our Market is the only place where you can hear LIVE MUSIC every week for FREE!

As local youth go back to school, 5 Healthy Towns Foundations (5HF) invites you to join us for a family wellness event, focusing on whole family health and safety. Aberdeen Bike will offer free bike maintenance safety checks for youth in grades K-12, a bicycle safety certification for kids aged 4-8, and a free bicycle helmet to the first 50 participants. Chelsea Wellness Center will be on hand to provide free orientations to our Outdoor Community Gym for anyone 13 and older, or over the age of 9 if accompanied by a parent.
Aberdeen will also have a bike safety course set up that youngsters can tackle. The safety course promotes bike safety and moving more for all kids in the 5 Healthy Towns region, including Chelsea, Dexter, Grass Lake, Manchester, and Stockbridge.
The event takes place on Saturday, September 10, 2022, 11am-1pm (rain date September 17) in the small Chelsea Wellness Center parking lot (adjacent to the outdoor gym). Back to School Wellness Day features the following activities:
A free bike safety inspection – (brakes, tires, and chains) Bring your Bike!
A Safety Course for kids aged 4-8, with a certificate of completion (bikes available for loan)
Free helmet fitting
Free snack pack with a healthy snack
Orientation to Chelsea’s Free Outdoor Community Gym, and a parent/child challenge for youth over 9 years old

CAPTIVATING CATERPILLARS: 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., Sunday, September 11. Spiny and smooth, colorful and camouflaged, hairy and hairless, caterpillars are an amazingly diverse group of animals! Join naturalist Faye Stoner in this program to explore the world of caterpillars around us. We will begin indoors looking at traits that help us identify caterpillars as well as learning how they protect themselves, what they eat, and more. Afterwards, we will take a walk outside to learn special techniques for finding them. You are welcome to bring caterpillars to share with others. Program suitable for ages 8 and up. Cost: $2/person or $5/family. Eddy Discovery Center, 17030 Bush Rd. in the Waterloo Recreation Area near Chelsea. This year’s chorus will be directed by retired Stockbridge choir teacher, Carol Hatch. Rehearsals will be held weekly on Monday evenings at 7pm starting September 12 with a public performance on Sunday, December 4. Rehearsals will be held in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church of Stockbridge at 101 S. Center Street in downtown Stockbridge. The First Presbyterian Church of Stockbridge is hosting an All You Can Eat Country Breakfast on Sunday, September 18 from 8 a.m. to Noon for the sixteenth annual All Clubs Day event in Stockbridge.
Everyone is welcome to attend the breakfast served at the First Presbyterian Church CE Building, located at 101 S. Center Street, Stockbridge.
Breakfast includes: homemade biscuits and gravy, eggs, pancakes, French toast sticks, hashbrowns, bacon and sausage links.

Join us for an entertaining and educational wildlife program as Randy Baker from Naturalist Endeavors brings you a variety of live animals from North, South and Central America. Learn about their life cycles, adaptations for survival, habitats, and how they fit in with the plants and animals around them. Program limited to 50 people. There you will meet local actors portraying residents of our area from a variety of time periods, giving you the opportunity to learn about the history of our area and the people who lived here. Jen Koppin, artist and educator, and Francie Krawcke, raptor educator, team up to offer you an opportunity to develop your drawing skills using live raptors. Francie will have magnificent birds from Michigan Avian Experience for you to draw during the second portion of the program.
