Cross Country Teams Sweep GLAC Titles

The Stockbridge boys’ and girls’ cross country teams swept the GLAC conference titles last week by taking first place in their respective races at Turkeyville.

Both squads took the top pot in all three GLAC jamborees this season to easily claim the titles.

The boys finished with 34 points to beat out Olivet with 40.

The Panthers were powered by the 2-4 finish of Dalton Satkowiak, Micah Bolton, and Collin Cook.

Satkowiak finished in 16:45.8, followed by Bolton in 16:55, and Cook in 17:01.18. Bolton’s time was a PR for the runner.

Olivet’s fourth runner came home 11th to make things close, but Ethan and Brendan Wright finished 12th and 13th and Olivet’s final runner 16th to clinch the title for the Panthers. Ethan finished in 18:07.4 and Brendan in 18:32.6.

Ben Chapman was 17th in 19:12.6, Brandon Howlett 23rd in 19:58.8, DJ Chapman 25th in 20:06 and Brady Cole 46th in 26:42.8.

The girls once again outdueled Leslie by beating the Blackhawks 42-45.

Rylee Tolson once again cruised to the GLAC title with a time of 18:36.6.

Brooklyn Rochow ran a strong race and finished third in 20:00.6, while freshman Anna Ransom continued to show a strong improvement with a 7th place finish in 21:53.7.

Kaitelyn Walker was 11th in 22:14.2 and Eliana Johnson 23rd in 23:53.28. Sidney Gipe followed in 28th with a time of 24:48.28, Andrea Borowy 32nd in 26:26.5, Kalysta Connolly 36th in 28:15.5, and Alora Mullins 39th in 31:14.3.

The teams ran at the Division 3 Regional at Hudson Mills Metropark Saturday, and the boys team qualified for the state finals with a second-place finish.

It was a hotly contested race with the top four teams within 15 points of each other. The Panthers finished with 84 points in the race that AA Gabriel Richard won with 80. Erie Mason was third with 88, and Monroe St. Mary’s fourth with 95.

Bolton led Stockbridge with a fourth place finish in 17:14.5 and Satkowiak right behind in fifth in 17:24.6.

Cook was sixth in 17:29.9, Brendan Wright 32nd in 18:58.9, and Ethan Wright 38th in 19:07.9. 3. Ben Chapman was 44th in 19:28.1 and Howlett 64th in 20:44.4.

The girls saw Tolson and Rochow qualify for the state finals as individuals as the team just missed out with a fourth-place finish.

Tolson won the race with 18:25.9 and Rochow 7th in 21:07.4.

Ransom was 23rd in 22:16.4 and Walker 24th in 22:26.9. Borowy was 53rd in 25:47, Gipe 54th in 25:48.6, and Johnson 59th in 26:50.6.

Tolson and Rochow will run at the D3 girls finals at 10:10 AM at MIS, while the boys will run in the D3 finals Saturday at 11:30 AM.
