From CADL Stockbridge: Library’s Summer Reading Challenge begins June 6
by Sherri McConnell, CADL Stockbridge Head Librarian
If you haven’t stopped by the library recently, we’d love to see you. You will see a fresh coat of paint on the walls, new carpeting, a new service desk, and more space and new shelves in the children’s area. Our storytime attendance has skyrocketed in the last year and we had to move it to our meeting area in the back of the building. We now will be able to hold storytime in the children’s area again along with other activities. The expanded service desk allows us to have more of our services immediately available and makes it easier to serve our patrons.
Our Summer Reading Challenge runs from June 6 to Aug. 9 and our theme this year is Color Our World. Stop by and pick up a reading log after Memorial Day weekend and watch for more information on our Facebook page at facebook.com/CADLStockbridge or on the CADL website, cadl.org.
We start the summer with a visit with adorable baby goats from Alpine Crossings Family Farm on Wednesday, June 11, at 10:30 a.m. On Friday, June 13 at 4 p.m., we’re hosting a Family Movie and Craft Night and showing Disney’s “Encanto.” On June 18 at 11 a.m., volunteers from Potter Park Zoo will talk about the food web using animal artifacts. However, there will be no live zoo animals. On Wednesday, June 25, at 11 a.m., we are putting on a Messtival! People can choose from several messy art activities and games, so don’t wear your fancy clothes to this party. We also will have a mini art show and a color scavenger hunt during the month. Look for more activities and details at cadl.org/events and on our Facebook page.
Capital Area District Libraries’ Stockbridge Branch is located at 200 Wood St. For more information, call 517-851-7810 or visit cadl.org.
