From the Superintendent’s Desk: Stockbridge Smith School ranks as a top performing elementary school in Ingham County

The Michigan School Index System ranked Smith Elementary an overall 94.6 percent in school performance.

Our Smith school staff are passionate educators, dedicated to the teaching and learning of all children. Below are points of pride from Smith Elementary School as we continue to prepare students in our school district for upper elementary.

  • The Michigan School Index System ranked Smith an overall 94.6 percent in school performance.
  • Proud 1:1 school where staff and administrators utilize Chromebooks to augment the curriculum, and kindergarten through second-grade students use the technology to enhance their learning.

 

  • Smith has an extremely positive school environment and a strong Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program. These benefits better enable students to maximize their learning potential and participate in positive learning activities.
  • The kindergarten through second grade STEM program at Smith helps build students’ foundations in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
  • Smith houses four preschool programs, thereby fostering great staff and student relationships and improving coordination of professional development opportunities.

Karl Heidrich has served as an administrator for Stockbridge Community Schools since 1999 and as Superintendent of Schools since 2013.
