Girls’ Soccer Wins Three of Five with Districts Looming

The Stockbridge girls’ soccer team has been heating up of late by going 3-2-2 over its last seven games.

The Panthers began the streak with a hard fought 1-1 tie with Lakewood.

Claire Beauregard found the net to put the Panthers on top 1-0 and it would stay that way until the Vikings would tie the game late to finish with a 1-1 draw. Kaitlin Miller picked up an assist on Beauregard’s goal. Peyton Killinger stopped 12 of 13 shots in net for the Panthers.

Arbor Prep

The Panthers then battled to a 2-2 draw with Ypsilanti Arbor Prep.

Evelyn Ortiz-Martinez and Julianna Debozy scored for the Panthers with Beauregard, Adrianna Adkins and Killinger picking up assists. Killinger made 17 saves in net for Stockbridge.

Maple Valley

The Panthers picked up their second win of the season with a 4-1 win over Maple Valley.

Killinger stopped 14 of 15 shots she faced in net. Ortiz-Martinez scored a pair of goals to lead the Panthers, while Adkins and Beauregard also found the net for Stockbridge. Miller recorded an assist for the Panthers.

Lansing Waverly

The Panthers dropped a 4-1 decision to Lansing Waverly. Killinger was peppered with 23 shots, stopping 19. Krista Culver scored for the Panthers with Adkins getting the assist.

Maple Valley

The Panthers blanked the Lions 3-0 in the first round of the GLAC consolation tournament. Bri Hill, Beauregard, and Debozy tallied goals for the Panthers with Ortiz-Martinez getting an assist. The Panthers defense limited the Lions to just two shots on net with Killinger stopping both.

Olivet

The Panthers dropped a 2-1 decision to Olivet in the fifth-place game in the GLAC tourney. The game was scoreless until late in the second half when Olivet scored on a corner kick that bounced off a Panther defender and into the net with six minutes left in the game. Olivet would add a second goal just a minute later to make it 2-0. Hill would score for the Panthers just before the final buzzer that was assisted by Debozy to make it 2-1 final. Killinger stopped six of seven shots in goal.

Perry

The Panthers blanked Perry 3-0 May 18. Killinger stopped both shots she faced for her second shutout. Beauregard scored a pair of goals to lead the Panthers offensive attack with Hill scoring in her third straight game. Adkins picked up an assist for Stockbridge.
