Attendees gathered Saturday, Nov. 17, for a concert sponsored by Stockbridge Area Arts Council and OAM’s (Outdoor Area Market’s) Music Series. Admission was free, and as always, donations were welcomed.

The first half of the evening began with a Stockbridge High School Jazz Band concert with more than two dozen young people performing. The skilled band played a variety of entertaining pieces and featured several student solos, interrupted on occasion for applause.

Throughout the evening mothers of band members provided refreshments.  Doughnuts and cider, donated by Gee Farms, comprised the menu of the day. Donations were accepted to defray costs of the Jazz Band’s planned spring trip to Florida’s Disney World.

After a brief intermission Crandall and Kroes took to the stage to perform what they called “Love and Lamentation. Trouble and Trains.” The two men played a variety of banjoes, guitars and harmonicas to present a nostalgic history of primarily American music, tossing in a few pieces from pre-American culture dating back to the 1600s and from other nations.

Both performances provided time to sit back, relax and enjoy good music in the presence of friends.
