Hot Shooting Chelsea Ends Panthers Season in Districts

The Stockbridge basketball team could not overcome the hot outside shooting of Chelsea Thursday night as the Panthers fell to the Bulldogs 62-43 in the Division 2 district semifinals.

The Bulldogs sank 11 triples on the night, including six in the third quarter as Chelsea blew open a close game and ended the Panthers season with an 8-9 overall record.

The Panthers started slow as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 12-2 lead and forcing a Stockbridge timeout. The Panthers would wake up toward the end of the first, but still trailed 18-6 after one.

The Stockbridge defense clamped down on the Bulldogs in the second as the Panthers began to rally.

Jeremy Pilch scored 11 first half points to help the Panthers cut the Bulldogs lead to 27-21 at the half.

The Panthers would get within five 35-30 midway through the third, but the Bulldogs heated up from the outside by making six three-pointers in the quarter and blowing the game open to 52-38 after three.

Stockbridge would run out of gas in the final quarter as Chelsea pushed the lead to 19 and cruised to the win.

Pilch finished with a team high 17 points to lead Stockbridge.

Noah Robidou chipped in with 12 points, including seven in the third. David Kluesner and Drew Philipp finished with four each, while Brock Jones and Collin Cook each added three points.
