Lady Panthers Win One of Three to Open Season

The Stockbridge girls’ basketball team opened its season by winning one of three games.

The Panthers opened the season by splitting two at the Dansville Showcase. They routed Webberville in the opener 59-6.

Stockbridge held the Spartans scoreless in the firts quarter as they took a 27-0 lead after one. Webberville would hit one free throw in the second as the Panther lead grew to 45-1 at the half.

Gwen Rogozinski with 10 and Alaina Kellenberger eight helped spark the Panthers big first quarter.

Rogozinski finished with a team high 23 points and had 10 steals and five assists, followed by Gracee Robidou with 10 points.

Kellenberger finished with eight points, Taylor Lockhart five points and four steals, Kayla Surline five points, Paige Stolarz three points, Rylee Tolson three points, and senior Brooklyn Rochow two points, nine rebounds, and five steals.

The Panthers started fast Friday night when they jumped to a quick 13-4 lead over Dansville, but the Aggies would rally in the second half to take the game 63-42.

The Aggies took a 25-21 lead into the half, but the Panthers held tough in the third and trailed 37-36.

The fourth quarter was all Aggies as they outscored the Panthers 26-6 to pull away for the win.

Rogozinski finished with a team high 30 points. Kellenberger had five points and ten rebounds, Robidou five points, and Stolarz two.

The Panthers hosted Fowler Monday night and came up short in a 59-37 loss.

Stockbridge took a 13-11 lead after one quarter with Kellenberger scoring six and Rogozinski five in the period.

Fowler outscored the Panthers 13-9 in the second to take a 24-22 lead at the break, but blew the game wide open in the second half with a 35-15 run to pull away for the win.

Rogozinski finished with 12 points and Kellenberger 10.

Robidou added five points, Rochow and Tolson four each, and Surline two.

The Panthers return to action Friday night when they host Maple Valley at 7:00pm.
