Monthly Unadilla Farmers Market to be held across from the Little Red Schoolhouse

Between the lush trails of Livingston County and the legacy farms of Stockbridge lies a little place called Unadilla. You may have passed through on your way to Chelsea, or perhaps you frequent the Unadilla Store. If you haven’t taken the time to experience Unadilla, now is your chance! The Unadilla Township Parks and Recreation committee is hosting the first ever Unadilla Farmers Market at the Unadilla Community Park across from the Little Red Schoolhouse (where Joslin Lake, Hadley, and Barnum roads come together in Unadilla Township).

The committee consists of Unadilla Township residents Julie Weiland, Yvonne Hopkins, and Amber Smith. Hopkins, who has previously led the Gregory Trailhead market, is spearheading the project.

“A market in Unadilla is a great way to bring our neighboring towns together and support our local businesses. Unadilla is as much Ingham County as it is Livingston,”  Hopkins said.

In an effort to promote township businesses and engage the community, the Unadilla Farmers Market will run once a month on the same Fridays as the Unadilla Store’s Classic Car Shows throughout the summer. Mark your calendars for 4-8 p.m. on the following Fridays: June 19, July 17, Aug 21, Sept 18, and Oct 9.

Vendors will be displaying their produce and wares along a paved walking path, and children are welcome to use the playground while parents shop. Families are encouraged to take advantage of the market each month.  The committee is also planning a Halloween-themed movie in the park this fall.
