Connie “Kay” Mayer
July 24, 1945 to October 18, 2019

Connie “Kay” Mayer, age 74, of Stockbridge, MI, passed away on October 18, 2019 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  She was born on July 24, 1945 in Royalton, KY the daughter of John Poe and Beatrice Arnett (Marshall, Poe). On August 20, 1966, she married Bill Mayer, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 1977.

Surviving are her daughter, Dawn (Mike) Kapalla of Stockbridge, and son, Darin (Donna) Mayer of Mancelona, one grandson, Hunter Kapalla, brother, Larry Arnett of Dansville and special Aunt, Jessie Marshall of Pleasant Lake. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Michael, and two brothers, Bob Poe and John Poe.

Kay had lived in the Stockbridge area her entire life. She had worked at the Chelsea Methodist Home as a Nurse Aide for 25 years, as well as the Stockbridge Schools in the kitchen and as a hall monitor. She loved to take care of people. She also enjoyed shopping at Walmart, doing Word Searches and coloring. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandson, Hunter, who was her pride and joy.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Howard officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Stockbridge Community Outreach.
