Age 89, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 30, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born September 30, 1930 in Kenton, OH, the daughter of Ferdinand Frederick and Anna Pauline (Dysert) Barth. Marilyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, a member of Dekers and a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars. She was an avid reader, loved all kinds of puzzles and was skilled at needlepoint and knitting. She was passionate about guiding youth as she mentored U of M hockey students and was a 4H leader. Her most cherished hobby was being a devoted U of M fan. She rarely missed a football or hockey game. Marilyn is survived by: three children, Deborah Fletcher of Munith, MI, Michael (Carrie) Holt of Manchester, MI, and Timothy (Monica) Holt of Ann Arbor, MI; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren, four nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Holt and her second husband, Edward Selent, her parents, Ferdinand and Anna Pauline Barth, her sister, Sharon, her brother, Bill and son-in-law, Rick Fletcher. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 2-8 PM at Muehlig Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 11 AM at the funeral home with burial to follow in Bethlehem cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the U of M alumni association.
