Panthers Split Pair in the GLAC
After defeating Lansing Christian Thursday night, the Stockbridge basketball team was handed its first league loss of the season Saturday to rival Leslie to drop to 4-1 in the conference and 4-4 overall.
The Panthers controlled the first quarter with a stingy defense to take a 7-2 lead over Lansing Christian Febraury 25.
Jeremy Pilch scored six in the second quarter, but Lansing Christian made things tight by outscoring the Panthers 11-8 in the second to make it 15-13 Stockbridge at the break.
Pilch took control in the secomnd half, scoring 17 points for the Panthers, but they could not shake the Pilgrims until the final few minutes. Pilch scored seven in the fourth, while Noah Robidou scored five.
The Panthers were led by Pilch with 25 points, while Robidou added 10. Riley Kennedy finished with seven, Drew Philipp three, and David Kluesner two.
Stockbridge took a 21-20 halftime lead into the locker room Saturday, but the Panthers offense went cold in the third when the Blackhawks outscored them 11-4 to take a 31-25 lead into the fourth.
Robidou would score nine in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough as Leslie held off the Panthers to hand them their first league loss of the season.
The Panthers were led by Robidou with 15 points, while Pilch scored 12. Philipp added six points, Kennedy five, Brock Jones and Kluesner two each.
