Lady Panthers Stay Perfect in GLAC

The Stockbridge girls basketball team picked up two more league wins last week to remain undefeated in the GLAC with a 5-0 conference record and 7-1 overall.

The Panthers shook a stingy Lansing Christian squad with a big fourth quarter to pull away for a 52-37 win over the Pilgrims February 24.

Kaylee Dalton sparked the Panthers in the first with a pair of three and eight points, helping Stockbridge take a 13-7 lead after one quarter.

Both teams struggled in the second, but Madison Mazuca nailed a triple and Brooklyn Rochow scored three points to give the Panthers a 23-15 lead at the half.

Gwen Rogozinski, who was averaging over 20 points a game going in to the game, was held to just three in the first half, but came to life in the second half. She scored six in the thid, but the Pilgrims made a game of it outscoring the Panthers 15-12 to cut the lead to 35-30 after three.

Stockbridge used a big fourth quarter to pull away by outscoring the Pilgrims 17-7 for the 15-point win.

Rogozinski scored eight in the fourth to finish with a team high 19 points, while Dalton scored seven in the final period and finished with 15. Mazuca and Rochow both finished with five points, Grace Hall four, and Chelsey Asquith.

The Panthers then routed previousley undefeate Leslie 72-30 Saturday.

Stockbridge was on fire from the word go against the Blackhawks.

Dalton hit a pair of triples, while Rogozinski scored six and Asquith four to help the Panthers take an 18-10 lead after one.

The Panthers continued to pour it on in the second with a 20-9 run behind 12 by Rogozinski and six my Mazuca and a commanding 38-19 lead at the half.

Mazuca comntinued her hot shooting in the third with eight points as the Panthers lead grew to 58-28 after three and they cruised to the win.

Rogozinski finished with a team high 24 points, while Mazuca finished with a season high 18 points.

Dalton finished with 10 points, Asquith eight, Hall and Rochow four each, Kayla Surline and Rylee Tolson two each.

The JV girls remained undefeated with a pair of league routs.

They opened with a 67-11 pounding of Lansing Christian.

Alaina Kellenberger led the Panthers with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Gracee Robidou added 14 points.

Kayla Surline chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds, Maddie Dalton six points, eight rebounds, and five steals, Taylor Lockhart five points and eight rebounds, Julianna Debozy, Brookyln Rochow, and Grace Burg four points each, and Rylee Tolson two.

The Panthers crushed Leslie 64-14.

Robidou led Stockbridge with 18 points and six steals, while Kellenberger had 15 points and seven rebounds.

Burg finished with 14 points, Lockhart nine points and eight rebounds, Surline six points and three rebounds, and Dalton three points, six steals, and five rebounds.
