Panthers Split Pair of Non-League Games

The Stockbridge basketball team prepared for the second half of the GLAC schedule by splitting a pair of non-conference games Monday and Tuesday.

The Panthers opened with a 71-57 win over Concord Monday night.

Concord started hot by taking a 19-13 after one, but the Panthers battled back in the second by outscoring the Yellowjackets 17-9 for a 30-28 halftime lead. Jeremy Pilch scored six and Brandon Nelson five to help spark the Panthers run in the second.

Tylin Ayers scored seven third quarter points, helping the Panthers outscore Concord 18-8 to take a 48-36 lead in to the final period.

Chris Hall scored 10 points and John Morris sank a pair of three-pointers to help the Panthers put the game away with 23 fourth quarter points.

The Panthers had four players hit double digits with Hall leading the way with 18 points. Ayers added 16 points, Morris 11, and Nelson 10.

Pilch and Noah Robidou finished with six each, while Josh Lewis and Brock Jones scored four each.

The Panthers returned to their home court Tuesday night hosting Fowlerville, but came up on the short end of a 73-63 loss.

Fowlerville came out on fire, outscoring the Panthers 20-11 in the opening quarter.

The lead would grow to 39-26 with a 19-15 run in the second for the Gladiators.

Hall scored 10 third quarter points as the Panthers tried to climb back into it but Fowlerville stayed hot outscoring the Panthers 21-18 for a 60-44 lead heading to the fourth.

Stockbridge tried to claw their way back with Hall scoring 12 in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough as the Gladiators held on for the 10 points win.

Hall finished with a team high 31 points.

Ayers added nine points and Nelson eight. Morris chipped in with six points, Robidou five, Lewis and Pilch two each.

The Panthers fell to 8-4 on the season. They will host Maple Valley in the 2020 Coming Home game Friday night at 7:00.
