Pieces and Patches Quilt Guild’s quilt show in Stockbridge October 8th and 9th 2022
The Jackson area Pieces and Patches Quilt Guild is hosting their bi-annual Quilt Show event on October 8th and 9th at Heritage Elementary (Stockbridge). This year, the theme of the event is “Quilters are Artists Too”. In addition to traditional quilts attendees can expect to peruse an array of contemporary works including Landscapes, Innovative Collages and Wearable Art. It will be a truly unique experience for all. Vendors will be on site with demonstrations, a silent auction full of unique items, a food booth offering pulled pork sandwiches and guild-member made desserts PLUS giveaways, door prizes, and a chance to win a beautiful quilt in the fund-raising raffle. Don’t miss the general store offering cuts of wool and other fabrics along with notions and tools for a variety of sewing needs and Barn Quilts for sale.
The Guild was formed originally in 1990 by a small group of quilters and today has over 100 members with varied interests. Giving back to the community is a priority as stated in their mission statement; “The Guild has been organized for the purposes of promoting an interest in and an appreciation of the art of quilt-making; sponsoring workshops, lectures, displays, projects, and occasions for friends to meet for fellowship; and engaging in charitable efforts as voted on by the membership.” In 2022, the Guild has supported four organizations in their charity efforts. Cage comforters and pet toys have been handcrafted by the group and donated to the Jackson County Animal Shelter, comfort quilts are donated to the Children’s Advocacy Center in Jackson, quilts are gifted to the Veterans Project for our local heroes and even more quilts are donated to the children of the Together We Can Make A Difference Project. These generous members stay busy creating quilted items with love for not only their family and friends but also for the comfort and needs of the community!
Please join the members of Pieces and Patches Quilt Guild in celebrating their art and craft at Heritage Elementary on Oct 8th and 9th. Entry is just $7 at the door. Quilt Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 while they last. More details about the Quilt Show and membership can be found at: www.fb.com/ppquiltguild.
