Stockbridge Library rocks to holiday open house
by Paul Crandall and Patrice Johnson
Sunday, Dec. 9, when the Generations band transitioned into “12th Street Rag,” a delighted, white-haired attendee turned to her friend to whisper, “This is the music we grew up on!”
An estimated 160 people were treated to complimentary music and refreshments at the Stockbridge Library – CADL’s annual Holiday Open House. Suzi Greenway prepared and presented appetizers on behalf of the Stockbridge Open Market, and youth created angels at a craft table. Then the Generations band, a staple of the increasingly popular event, began to play holiday music, and from one holiday tune to the next, audience members swayed and tapped their toes.
Band members and special guests included Debbie Fogel, Bob Johnson, Gary Allen, Dave Tatrow and Jeff Kressler.
Between songs, special guest trumpet player and singer Dave Tatrow quipped and posed brainteasers. “If I drove faster than the speed of light,” he asked, “would my headlights be shining?”
Readers are encouraged to attend upcoming music events in the community. Who knows? Maybe the answer to Tatrow’s sage question awaits discovery in elusive dark energy that hovers between B flat to F sharp.
