Stockbridge police reserve officer retires

by Johnnie Torres
Chief of police

The Stockbridge Police Department lost one of its finest in June and the Village Council recognized him for his service recently at a regular meeting.

Reserve Officer Ron Hodder served with the SPD for six years and is hanging up his duty belt for what he described as health reasons.

Officer Hodder joined the SPD in December 2015 after completing the Reserve Officer Academy hosted by the Jackson Police Department.  He dutifully served the SPD and the village of Stockbridge community.  His last shift was at the “Day in the Village” festivities Friday night, June 18.

When the SPD implemented the reserve officer program and posted openings, Ron was the first at the door asking to be a part of it. He has a passion for police work and is the consummate public servant.

I admire and respect Ron and appreciate him for all he has done for SPD and the community.  He will be missed.

In recognition of his service, Reserve Officer Hodder was presented with his badge at the council meeting. The presentation was attended by his current and former SAESA Explorers.

Thanks again, Ron!
